My only education course was a single nugget of wisdom from an office mate at the University of Oklahoma: Shift your tongue into neutral and let it idle on. I've come a long way since then. After over thirty years of teaching high schoolers, college students and adults, I still love to see the power of a new idea penetrating the mind. Below are various points of interest.

Abstinence Education Training

How do you initiate an abstinence education program in your schools? What do you say when you get into the classroom? How do you handle sticky issues like abortion, masturbation or homosexuality? What if someone mentions God?
Conducted on site for pregnancy centers that wish to begin an abstinence-only education program in local schools, this two-day seminar includes a complete 50-page training manual with all skits, a sample program presented to youth from the local area, and opportunity for class members to try out elements of the program first hand.

"What does it mean to be Pro-life?"
Underlying the conflict over abortion are two opposing world views. One says, "All life has value." The other says, "Some lives have more value than others." When does life begin? When do biological cells become a "person"? What does your position on the abortion issue reveal about your core values?
First given at Cornell University in the Human Sexuality class, this talk avoids medical, political and economic issues. Instead it focuses on lowering walls so that students can listen to someone from an opposing viewpoint and understand the complexity of the abortion issue. It explains why someone might be crazy enough to defend a pro- life position.

Why would anyone be crazy enough to wait for sex until marriage in 2004? What qualities are important in a relationship? How does sex outside marriage undermine all those qualities? What is a "renewed virgin"? How do you keep things from getting too hot and heavy on a date?
This program on sexual abstinence for teens, developed by Emily Chase for the Capital Area Pregnancy Center in Camp Hill, PA, uses humor, skits and discussion to present the idea of waiting for sex until marriage in a positive light. The program receives a 98-99% positive response from the students in public school classrooms. Each year, hundreds programs are presented in the Capital region of Pennsylvania, and pregnancy centers across the USA and abroad now use these materials.

Parent Education

How do you talk to your kids about intimacy? Many parents avoid the issue because of fear and embarrassment, the very same reasons their kids avoid discussing the issue. You don’t have to talk about body parts. What’s important to you in your marriage relationship? The key to talking with your kids about sex lies in putting intimacy back into the bigger picture of a relationship called marriage.
Appropriate for parents with children of all ages, the secular version of this program is excellent for elementary and middle school PTA/PTO groups. The Christian version of the program is usually scheduled in conjunction with the “Waiting – The Smart Choice!” program” for church youth groups.
